the sanctuary
location: 25. 1st avenue. new york. ny. phone: 212.780.9786vegetarian/vegan, east village, friendly service, good for conversation, live musicpepperblog wanted a fresh start and what better way than start with fresh international vegetarian cuisine at 'the sanctuary'. with a very warm and welcoming ambience, this eatery serves up only fresh veggie, vegan, and karma-free food, predominantly from the asian region. the grilled taro cakes appetizer with ultra-thick soy sauce was delicious. the chicken-none thai curry was made with a lemongrass-basil curry with string beans and eggplant. this reminded me of mom's kitchen though she never cooked vegan for all i know! having forced to stay home all day due to the dip in the thermo, i hadn't eaten all day, and that could explain why ordered a 16oz "nectar of the gods". made with mango juice and coconut milk with a dash of maple syrup it is refreshing!

overall, 'the sanctuary' is recommended by pepperblog - for health freaks and health-none freaks alike!
